It would be a big help if someone can tell me where WMP11 stores its artworks...I just can't see myself spending all that time getting it exactly right for iTune like I did with WMP 11. Just too much effort and time...

please help!

WMP 11 saves its album images in the ripped folder that you specify for the music (if ripped from a CD). I bought from a store in mp3 already, I am not sure. My guess is that it still does the same as for CD ripping. The trick is the image is a hidden file in Windoze. So you need to give yourself ability to view hidden/system files. In the case of ripped CDs, the album art is stored as "folder.jpg" as the filename.

If you know where the image files are saved as (in iTunes) and what filename to properly let your program parse the images. Then I suggest grabbing album art from somewhere like (www.allcdcovers.com) or an equivalent site. This will also give you higher resolution images if you cannot stand the small pixely 200x200 images that WMP fetches.

I just use google images for my iTunes cover art. You can find some very high res cover scans (800x800 or higher) which look great in cover flow.

Yup, WMP saves Album Art in the mp3's folder as a hidden file. iTunes embeds the album art into the file itself.

I use MediaMonkey for tagging. Since I'm sort of anal about this, I don't use the in-built feature to fetch album art - I get them manually from Amazon.com, looking for the perfect image. All Album Art HAS to be 500x500 (except for some taller designs) and the colors/contrast has to be just right. The trick with Amazon is to search in the 'MP3 Downloads' section - I've noticed that they are all 500x500 and have exceptional quality. In case I don't find an album available in the MP3 Downloads section, I look at the CD page and go through the Customer Submissions.

After tagging the files, I keep the album art in a backup folder. Sometimes, I use Picasa to generate gigantic picture grids to use as my desktop wallpaper. :D

What's the best software to embed the album art into the mp3 file? For "loose" mp3s (not albums) this seems much cleaner.

actually iTunes does not embed the art directly into the file, it creates a directory under your documents and settings and stores the image there. This PISSES me off, I let iTunes add cover art for like 600 albums, looked great in iTunes and on my Touch, but any other software that uses cover art they'd come up blank.
I ended up having to go into each album on iTunes, doing a ctrl+c and selecting all the files and doing a ctrl+v. Took forever, iTunes SHOULD embed the art directly in the mp3 that would make sense. it took me 2 long days to actually get the images embedded. between iTunes Store and google image I found very high quality covers for 95% of my stuff, some I couldn't find any and some are very low crappy quality ones.

Really? Damn, I haven't used iTunes in ages but I was certain that it embedded album art into the files. I don't have it installed now (gave my iPod to my sis - it was the only reason I had that damn application installed) but this is new information to me.

Thanks for clearing up my mistake.

I think the older versions did, the new one I guess not. Thinking I did something wrong I Googled, only found a few links but they said the same thing. Apple NEEDS to fix this, it would be simple for them. I spend so much time doing it manual, the only app I could find that did it for you was Applescript and I'm PC so... :)

I ripped with both WMP and Itunes, I would listen to 1 song on WMP and as soon as the cover popped up on screen I go to the next CD.
When I used Itunes to load IPOD the coverart would load from the CD folders.

Though Itunes is MP optimised and rips great I cant stand propriatary BS and to use the file manager (Explorer) with it can be devastating if you dont watchout.
