Stupid question, I know. I just never had to do it before. Basically I just want to create an ISO image of a cd. I couldn't find a way to do this in Nero. Is there any free software that does this?

And you can also use DVD Shrink. It is great for archiving one's DVD movies.

Alcohol 120% is the main one I use. (plus you get mounting capability)
For DVD's (aka movies) I use DVD Decrypter

Nero only seems to be able to make .nrg files, and I want isos.

What I want to do is make images of my playstation cds to play them with an emulator. Is there no free program to make isos? It seems like such a simple task I can't imagine there's no freeware program that does it.

DVDShrink will do this, too. One of my favourite multi-tools, of sorts. Just recently found out I don't need to create the VIDEO_TS/AUDIO_TS folders, then run my script to make them into an ISO. DVDShrink can do that automatically.

Okay, I just downloaded service pack 2 for my new machine from a 3rd party. The service pack is in about 47 .rar files. When I open the .rar files, each .iso is the same name.

When I try to load them with Nero Burning ROM, I'm prompted if I want to replace one .iso file with another.

I'm confused. How does this type of image burn work?

You're trying to slipstream SP2?

What 3rd party? It sounds like an .iso file has been compressed into 47 .rar files. If this is the case, you just extract the one ending with ".rar" & you'll have one .iso file.
