Go to your nearest chain store. Intend to buy a DVD drive. At this very moment, that DVD drive is virtually yours! Put it back down and leave. Go home. Stay there. Take your medication. Never leave home again. People like you shouldn't be driving. (Joke, d1abolic, it's just a joke! I'm joking!!)

What the heck is a virtual DVD drive? If you're able to copy your movie files over, then you're able to play them, given you used something like Smartripper. Use PowerDVD or whatever you like and add your files to the playlist. They'll play in order and you're set.

Just because you are ignorant shouldn't mean you should act like someone else is a moron. I know exactly what he is talking about but I don't think a product exists yet. Virtual cd lets you copy the contents of a cd to your hard drive and if a game needs the cd you can just run virtualcd and point it to your hard drive. Makes games load much faster.

I bet he wants virtualDVD so that he can rip a dvd to his computer and use a program to play the movie like it was in an actual DVD-rom drive. I just don't think it will happen anytime soon. I also don't see the point because there are programs that will play a ripped movie from a dvd or you could just encode it to divx to take up much less space.

CD Anywhere (which I have) claims to support the idea of a virtual DVD provided that you have a physical DVD drive. At the same time, they say that most times the creation of a virtual DVD is not possible due to copy protection techniques and the fact that most times the file would be over 2 gigs.

edited to add three words "most times the"
