How do I make a bootable floppy to detect CDROM's on Highpoint controller for use with CDRESQ?

I'm using Win2k, and I normally use CDRESQ to back up my system. It's a DOS based proggy so you need to load CDROM drivers from a floppy before running the program. I normally use my Win98 startup disk, but it doesn't recognize my DVD or CDRW now that they are on the Highpoint controller (they are normally on the onboard VIA controller).

Is there anyway I can make my own homemade boot diskette that will work with the Highpoint controller?

Now that is a good question. I'm interested in that too, cause I don't want to have to move the CD drive to another IDE cable when I format.

are there any dos drivers for the highpoint controller? check out their site.. if there are none.. you're screwed.

altho, try some adaptec scsi drivers, cause it might see that as a scsi card.. who knows.

I was always told not to run devices other than HD's on the hpt IDE. Hrmm.. but I dunno, haven't tried it.

Wait, I just realized this...if the proggy won't recognize my CDRW on the Highpoint controller, then it shouldn't recognize my hard drive either?? Wouldn't this be the case?

most likely.. tho, if there are dos drivers, that will solve your problems or, at least i think they would.

Well I did this...I put the CDRW on the secondary VIA controller and left the DVD on the Highpoint controller. That should work

ummmmm, Have you actually tried running it with them on the HPT with a 98 boot disk?? I seem to remember it working fine for me.

It does work. drives on HPT controller are recognised in dos, no matter whether its CD or HD type.
Only thing is, (For my KT7-raid), earlier bioses had a bug which didn't allow the disks on the secondary controller to be recognized. The new bios(WW and later) fix that.
