How do I know if my SRT setup is working?

I recently upgraded my computer and set it up to use SRT with a 64 GB M4 Crucial SSD and some old 300 GB HDD. Everything seemed to work fine, and the Intel Rapid Storage Technology program shows that it's working normally and in Maximized mode.

However, when my Windows Experience Index gives me a score of 6.2, which is limited by my disk data transfer rate. Also, my friend, who basically has the same setup, says that his windows loads before the Windows logo fully comes together on the initial loading screen. On my computer, however, that is not the case.

So, my question is, how do I know that my SRT is setup and running optimally, apart from the SRT program saying so?

Your applications will load up quicker with SRT than without. Anand benched SRT on the front page - for bigger applications they can load up to 8 seconds faster when SRT has them in the cache. Your data transfer rate is low because your SSD is not used as your storage drive. It's also not the boot drive.

You must understand that you're using the SSD as a cache and not as a boot drive. What gets put into the cache is determined by the data and apps you access most often. Assuming you just installed Windows and set everything up, it may be a short while before you see the full benefit of having the SRT cache.

WEI was never a good benchmark for system performance. I wouldn't rely on it.

Thanks for the replies. Perhaps I am being a little too impatient and should give it some time for the cache to buildup before passing any judgments. Think I'm just being paranoid.

What kind of drive is your OS installed on ?

To really see the benefits of SRT, you have to use it to cache a drive that has your OS and/or the ( large ) applications you run most often.

There will be no improvement until you run a cached application the 2nd time, and then it will be like night and day..

Well, when I got my SSD drive, I put in my comp and set the BIOS to RAID. After that, Windows wouldn't load (as I expected), so I booted off my CD-ROM and reinstalled Windows 7. I believe when I did that I only saw one drive choice, which was my HDD. So yeah, pretty sure my OS is installed on the HDD and the SSD is being used as cache.
