How do I know if my GPU has Vertex and Pixel Shader 2.0

I have a ATI 9800 Pro 128MB GPU. I know it's old, but I want to play a game that requires this Vertex and Pixel Shader 2.0.

Eh? The 9800 *does* do Shader 2.0.

If you want to play NWN2, though, it'll be pretty fracking slow.

I have NWN2 and it's not to bad, I sure the graphics can be better, but it's not choppy or anything. But I'm thinking of getting a new GPU. Something to tie me over til I build my new PC this spring. Thinking mabye a 6 series Nividia.

Dumb question if I have PCI slot on my mobo does that mean my board supports PCI GPU's. I ask this becuase currently I have a AGP GPU.

No, PCI-E is a replacement to AGP

So what your saying is that my mobo only supports AGP GPU's. I tought there are three types of GPU's AGP, PCI and PCI-E. Since I have PCI slots I thought I could use PCI GPU's.

But I will most likely stick wiht the 9800. When I start building my PC I will most likely get the 8800 GTX. What do you guys think the prices for that GPU will be around May/June.

You are correct, although most PCI graphics cards are extremely slow by today's standards. Many people erroneously assume that PCI and PCIe are the same thing, or interchangable.

Depends somewhat on what ATI has come out with by then and how they price their products. A WAG would be something like $500.
