The reaon I am asking is that I am trying to create PC recovery discs, and the compaq recovery CD creator asks me if my blank DVD is DL or just regular...mmm.

It should state " double or dual layer " on the package the DVD came in or either on the back of the DVD itself. Do you have a burning program the disk info button should tell you what type.

It should also be coded in the transparent area of the disk's hub.
