I have a nice dress shirt fresh out of the washer.

1. Do I wait til it's dry then iron it or do it when it's wet?
2. How do I iron? Certain techniques? Do sleeves first, pay attention to collar, etc?

Please advise me.

I gave up and take it to a dry cleaners. I find that the frustation is much more expensive to me than the cost of them doing it.

a dry cleaners can do shirts for like 99 cents.

most cleaners press dress shirts while they are wet.

Wait till it's dry. depending on the material, you may use steam, a spray starch, or just dry. I usually go collar -> sleeves -> front left -> back left -> back center -> back right -> front right -> touch up all over.

just about every dry cleaners. the machines press dress shirts while wet. the steam and heat from the machines dries the shirts in like 20 seconds.

If it's after I wash them, I usually hang them until they're almost dry and then iron them so that I don't have to spray any water on. Back -> sleeves -> front for me.

I'd rather know how can someone not know how to operate an iron.

Hah, because they never wanted/needed to use it before?

Personally, I have never ironed anything and still don't understand why it would be important to do so. I keep my clothes hanged in a closet until I need to use them. When I take them out to use, there aren't any funky creases, so it never crosses my mind to fix.
