How do I install LITESTEP?

i think you have to edit the win.ini

instead of
shell=explorer.exe

it becomes
shell=litestep.exe <- i forgot the exact filename

but litestep requires a lot of tweaking and understanding of how it works
i dont recommend you to use it since you cant even be bothered to read the documentations 🙂

it is very difficult to configure

i have used it before, the interface is a change from windows
but i cannot be bothered since you have to re-configure the whole of the startmenu (hotlist) from the ground up
as well as getting each module AND configuring each of them in a text based environment

I've read every epeice of documentation that I could find. It doesn't indicate ANYWHERE, where each file has to go.
Yeah, the module management isn't a problem.
I realise that you have to edit he winini..

Thanks for your help!
🙂

Litestep is based on a simple .rc file that is a piece of cake to edit. Just look at step.rc before you do anything and it should be easy to understand. If its not to you, dont bother trying to install it at all.

I think the last *official* release had an installer. The development builds since then only have the updated files (just overwrite the old ones).

I haven't played with LS for a month or more now. I doubt things have changed that much.

ya, i agree with "orange", i think the last release had an installer, also try something like: ice sphere, i used it a while back, when it wuz alpha, it wuz much better than lite step, ill try to find a site for it.

just install into c:\litestep and make sure you check the "use folder names" box.

well that worked for me.
you have to edit your system.ini as well

Litestep is awesome. If you get it working, I'll have to send you my winamp module, it is great. I just installed everything to c:\litestep and set shell in win.ini to c:\litestep\litestep.exe
