Leg press is weak measurement and how far people go down VARIOUS WIDLY...it is a joke...

Lets me do this: http://homepage.ntlworld.com/ph.chea/135cm_jump.mov

Got to be fast to Olympic Lift. NO ONE slow can Olympic Lift any decent amount.

Got to train yourself be fast. Doing Plyometrics like Aquaman has stated helps A LOT also.

Also your technique helps A LOT. MY Bball technique is rough so I can't dunk but if I had the time to learn properly I'd be able to dunk with my vertical.

I'm 5'10 btw.

you should be able to do AT LEAST double your body weight on the leg press if you're even half athletic, i'm 180 and i can do 350 or so, then again, i can't jump very high either

It's not just the weight you are lifting but how much rest you are also getting. Do you breath properly when working out or do you like strain yourself and hold your breath? Check this out:

Think Pre workout, Body Conditioning, Core Training, Recovery

Pre workout: Warm-up properly with low intensity actions (extremely vital!, you do not wanna get caught cold or else you will risk injuries), dynamic versatility produced by resembling basketball actions while stretching - remember you're training to become a basketball player here and never an olympic weight lifter so train for sport specific movements then train for muscle.

Body Conditioning: glutes bridges, quads i.e. Squats or squat jumps - you cant ever fail with this exercise, hamstrings - hamstring curls, calves - (one legged hops, heck even skip ropes is good), abductors, practice dunks (remember resembling real basketball movements)

Recovery: foam curler!! Relaxation is not simply to remove stress after work but it's the identical factor for physical workout. Your body feels really stressed out after strenuous exercise and sends ton load of stress signals straight to your brain and so the more you relax the faster the recovery rate, the better results you are going to get!
