How do I hook up my xbox 360 to my pc without MediaCentre PC and Windows Connect?

so how? do I hook up an ethernet cable directly from my pc to my 360, or can I plug the 360 ethernet into my router? thanks for the help

You plug your 360 into your router. You install Windows Media connect onto your XP home/pro machine.

You run the Media connect software and "allow" your 360, then choose what folders/files you want to stream. You then you go into your 360 and go to video or music, and choose your PC.

easy as that.

I have WMP10 and I can watch WMV movies on my Xbox 360 just fine using Windows Media Connect.

Its so much better once you have MCE :). SO glad I upgraded to MCE 2005 a few months ago.

Ya, that WMV thing pisses me off. Only 6 of my movies are WMV, and only 4 of them work.

Windows media connect will work also.
