so how? do I hook up an ethernet cable directly from my pc to my 360, or can I plug the 360 ethernet into my router? thanks for the help

You plug your 360 into your router. You install Windows Media connect onto your XP home/pro machine.

You run the Media connect software and "allow" your 360, then choose what folders/files you want to stream. You then you go into your 360 and go to video or music, and choose your PC.

easy as that.

You have to upgrade to WMP11. You can only watch WMVs on your 360.
I have WMP10 and I can watch WMV movies on my Xbox 360 just fine using Windows Media Connect.
