How do i get to the web interface my firewall

My mom got a firewall from her job that i need to install (for her to be able to access her job email) anyways the firewally zywall 2 plus is pre configured by the it departement at her job. They did give me the password for the firewall, but the problem is i cant access the web interface. they told me what the ip address of the firewall should be, but it doesnt work and i cant ping it either. I have the feeling that they disabled the DHCP server, but they told me that they most probably didnt dissable it.

What can i do? im running an ipscan right now for the range 192.168.0.0 to 192.168.255.255


EDIT: i my current setup is router > firewall > macbook

If i try connecting another computer to the firwall (which has a built in 4 port router) at the same time as my macbook, i get an error message on my macbook, telling me that the ipaddress is already in use (this is what leads me to believe that the DHCP server is disabled

Maybe you should talk to the IT department and find out what is wrong.

Use HTTPS. Also if the mac is getting an IP address then DHCP is working just fine.

Looking at the zywall 2 plus documentation, it requires some sort of virtual private network setup which I know nothing about. But we are not talking some vanilla router here so you need sort of help from your Mom's IT debt.

@spidey07: the ip address that i am getting (through ipconfig) is my external ip address. This is the same thing that happened once when i had my modem hooked up to my switch, at any time i could have only 1 pc connected, else there would be ip address conflicts. yeah, most firewall don't want you getting into them unless it's encrypted.

OH - and many firewalls can operate in a bridged mode so they're not actually routing or running DHCP. Best bet is to get in touch with the people that sent it.

You need information from the IT folks. The Zywall 2 can be set up in various modes, and you aren't going to get anywhere without knowing how it's set up.

The default address of the ZyWall Web Configurator is 192.168.1.1, but that address certainly could have been changed.
