Don't want to hijack the thread, but it sounds like lots of you blokes are getting called up - is this normal in the US? or is the millitary really pushed for numbers in iraq?

This is normal for ages 17-early 18 in the US. Once you've been 18 for a few months you drop off the RADAR.

... Wow, I'm a nerd, I just capitalized RADAR in that phrase.

They call me about once a month and each time it leads to some boring conversation about how I can attend school and enlist when I don't want to. I figured I could just hang up on them but I don't wish to be impolite. So I'm looking for the one answer that'll get them to stop calling me indefinately. Of course ATOT always comes up with the best suggestions, so let's hear them!

Tell them "I'm not gay but I am willing to learn."

I've never been called, amazingly.

As obnoxious as it is to you, they are just doing their jobs. Just tell them you are not interested and please don't call again, then hang up.

True. There's no reason to be impolite or ignorant. If you want them to stop calling, tell them so in a polite way, and they will.

Haven't read the thread, so sorry if it's already been suggested. Just tell them you have some sort of physical or mental ailment...like bipolar, crippling anxiety, pins permanently holding your knee together, etc.

Tell them you have allegry induced asthma. (real issue I have, so they said screw off to me when I inquired about OTS  )

All governement schools are required to give student lists to the military for recruitment purposes. It is part of the No Child Left Behind Act.

Tell them to STFU and quit calling...or simply hang up.

Tell them that Bush's bullshit wars aren't worth dying for!!!

Tell them to simply quit calling and that you're not interested, as simple as that.

That's the first thing that came to mind here too. Or don't just tell them you are gay, but tell the guy on the phone he has a sexy voice and ask if he wants to go out for a drink sometime....
