I am creating my own website and i was wondering if there are any free forum designs out there similar to what we see here?

🙂

OH MY GOD!!!!
$1999.00????????

argh!!!!!!!! 😛

thanks but is there anything else that is erm... cheaper? hehe

That's the unlimited license. It's $189.00 for single use. You will NOT find a better price for software of this caliber. Even UBB costs more, and it doesn't come close in the features and power.

hmm... it says 189 for a single encrypted forum.
what does that mean?

would "hot deals" and "off-topic" be two separate forums?

btw, thanks for the help guys...

You said you wanted a free forum. I don't think $189 for the forums of your webpage would be a wise investment just yet.

Encrypted means that you would not have access to the source code. No, those are categories within the forum.

Amazing Forums

They're free and they are awesome. They don't have things like password protection or profiles unfortunately, but other than that they are really good and fancy-looking. Hope that helps.

You kind of forgot the addition of the cost of a Cold Fusion host/administrator..

The biggest cost with fusetalk would be coldfusion. I was thinking of buying a single user liscense and setting up my own forum, but coldfusion is about $1000 and you have to have it. Way too much!

oh wow 🙂
great information !!

thanks guys
i'll go check out the amazing forums page

yeah i'm just starting out so 189 is really too much for me...

Ultimate Bulletin Board found here: http://www.infopop.com/. You need support for pearl and CGI scripts on your server you are putting it on. Some cheaper hosts don't support the scripts. I am using the beta 8.1 version since I had trouble with the original version 5.

$189 is cheap for an enterprise solution like FuseTalk. Sometimes I wonder if Zuni's a little too modest with his pricing😉 Fox (the TV company) was interested in FuseTalk after I e-mailed them about their friggin crappy Delphi forums for Dark Angel. They said they'd check into it but unfortunately they're still using Delphi (apparently they're going to get off Delphi...but I guess they aren't too interested in a quality service as they are in a service that serves as many people as possible).

When you see how much other software used by business costs, $189 will make you run to the Hot Deals forum😉

Yeah, that is cheap. I checked it out, but I didn't have support for CFM. I had to get a Forum up fast and for the sake of not changing servers I had to go with UBB. Moving toward my own Dedicated in the future, hopefully.

hey thanks a lot for ur help hamburgerpimp 🙂

GL, yeah i know... 189 would be cheap for a large corporate company like Fox or AT. But for me, eheh... i still have school tomorrow 😛

Man, someone should come up with a collection of information and resources for those just starting out on their own. Like for someone like me, who had to take one hour to figure out how to even register a domain name 😛

Most of those are GPL'd freeware and will operate under PHP and mySQL, the two most commonly available programs with low cost web access that are capable of web applications. BlazeBoard and PHPbb will be/are the equal of Fusetalk when complete. Best thing about them is you can customize the scripts yourself if you want, and PHP is very easy to learn.
