How do I get rid of Babylon software?

On 7 August 2010, Microsoft antivirus products identified the software application as malware (identified as "Adware: Win32/Babylon") due to potentially intrusive behavior.[16] Sixteen days later, on 23 August 2010, Microsoft announced that Babylon Ltd. had modified the program and that it was no longer categorized as malware.[17]
Babylon toolbar, a browser plugin for Internet Explorer, Firefox and Chrome, is installed with various ad-supported software packages on an opt-out basis[examples needed]. This toolbar overrides default browser settings, does not provide an option to automatically revert to previous settings[18] and is infamous for the complicated uninstallation process[19] . This behaviour qualifies the software as malware in many users opinions."

Once you made sure that it's no longer in "Add/Remove Programs," in Firefox, click on "tools," and look for "add-ons." If the Babylon Toolbar is still in there, there should be an "uninstall" button under Babylon. Click uninstall, and follow the prompts. Uninstallation should complete when you relaunch Firefox.
Something similar should be available in IE.
I think I recall Babylon software crawling onto a friend's machine when he installed the Ask Toolbar, another huge mistake. If you find that in "Add/Remove Programs," remove it, too.

That "reputation" translates to 937,000 results on Google on how to remove your malware.

I'm shocked that they actually replied in this topic. Babylon is total malware, but I have to hand it to them for going the extra mile to "help" the users that they infected. I'm only wondering what that call actually sounds like. I might try it myself. My kids each have a PC and all of them are infected. The uninstall is not an easy process, and it's build that way on purpose.

If you really cared that much about your reputation you wouldn't write a program that stays active when removed with the windows "uninstall a program" feature. If your claims about having 150 million clients is actually true I would hazzard aguess that 149 million of them don't even realise your software is running on their machine or what it does and the other million are trying to remove it without success.
I don't have anything to say about their browser toolbars, but the commercial Babylon dictionary~translation software is great. I'd purchased version 4 several years ago that came with a free upgrade to version 5, and last year I purchased the full version of v. 9 for a New Years sale. No regrets

This toolbar overrides default browser settings, does not provide an option to automatically revert to previous settings, is unable to be uninstalled via the native Windows installer, and is infamous for the complicated uninstallation process.
I've removed hundreds of serious malware, employing sophisticated rootkit techniques, that were less problematic to remove and caused less damage to the system than Babylon. I truly feel sorry for you neophytes that are Babylon's unwitting bread-and-butter clientele.
The only thing Babylon is interested in is making web dollars at the total expense of your right to privacy, and ensures their ability to do just that by making sure that you (meaning the neophyte) can't uninstall their shitware.
If you think purchasing Babylon's sofware absolves you from this malware you would be wise to educate yourself.

Back when I first bought it (I think 2004) I don't think Babylon even had toolbars (though I could be wrong)
OK, when I installed the commercial Babylon software I bought in 2011, it gave me the option to install the toolbar. I agreed (I've never voluntarily installed a toolbar before but since the commercial software is actually useful I decided to try it out). I never enabled it on IE9 but did on Firefox but soon after I decided not to display the toolbar (I don't like things taking up extra space) but still had it installed. I just decided to deactivate the Firefox Babylon add-ons. So what horrible horrible things am I supposed to be experiencing as I simply disabled them instead of going through some complex removal process?

Best way to stop toolbar problems is to not install them in the first place.
