How do i get past 250/200?

I've had my system over a year now and i have always been stuck at 250/200 o/c and just didn't bother trying to go over it(now i want to go past it). I am stable and my temps are good enough... its just once i try to go just abit over 250(with a 5:4 divider), i get a black screen and a long beep and pauses, long beep puases, ect.... how do i get past this? which shouldn't be due to heat/stability....right?

i have:
2.4C P4
Abit Is7-G
9800pro 128mb
western digital 120gb SATA 7200rpm
corsiar XMS 2x512mb
no name brand PSU

This problem doesn't affect every board made. The only Abit board I know of that 100% of can cross the 250MHz barrier is the IC7-Max3.

Don't believe so - I'm not running CH5 ram.

BTW, just downloaded the latest IC7-G BIOS (26). I'm still not able to cross 250MHz, at any voltage. It's a 2.4C, and it's rock solid stable at 249x12 @ default voltage.

I can't find the link, but this was discussed at the "official" Abit forums.

i have been looking on the abit forums, but couldn't find anything quite like my problem with the beeping, what could it be? i'm stable at 250, but once i try 255 it gives me a black screen and beeps, pause, beep, pause, ect... what does it mean, and how can i fix it?

thanks for the help🙂

You need to post more info. All of your components, ram etc, and all of the pertinent bios settings.

I know some of the intel boards don't like going past 250 when not running the memory 1:1.

I forget where I saw that though.
