yes i did.

i get this error msg when i try to browse the network:

"<network name> is not accessible. you might not have permission to use this resource. contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions.

the list of servers for this workgroup is not currently available"

i'm logged in as admin for both computers.

WHATS WRONG?!

When I open a folder there is a split screen and on the left there is an option for sharing the folder. You might have to enable sharing to get that to work.

OK....I'm just going through some of the obvious stuff that I can think of. I'm sure there are much smarter network people here that will figure this out. Have you tried disabling any Firewalls? Also your SubNet Mask should be 255.255.255.0 I think. You've probably already checked those.

usually it's because it wants you to run a wizard. To verify basic connectivity, ping the IP address of the other computer, then do a "net view \\ipaddress"

disable all firewalls (windows, other S/W, hardware from NVIDIA mobo's).

i'm trying to share my "Program files" because some of my programs save their data there.

i cant share that directory?!

but i can just realized that i can share other directories.

so why cant i just share the Program Files dir?

why must i share the entire C:\ instead?

What OS are you running?

Also, open "My Computer" click on "Tools" then "View". Scroll to the bottom of the Advanced settings list and make sure "Use simple file sharing" is checked.

I can share my Program Files Folder. So it's got to be some option you have set.

simple file sharing is ass, imho. I hate that crap, but it is probably easier for someone not familer sharing
