How do I get my Vista computer to sync with my bluetooth mobile?

I have a moto q and it wont find the "active sync service" on my Vista upgraded comp.

I believe Vista did not ship with active sync

The article on the main page about Vista talks about it toward the end.

bleh.. I can activesync with the built in Vista Mobile Center, but bluetooth is non-functional.
