How do I get my vid card, SCSI card, and USB off IRQ 5? (Using MSI Pro2a & Win2k Pro)

I have a MSI Pro2a with Wink2 Pro. I believe my BSODs are being caused by my Evil Kyro 64mb, Diamond Fireport 40 SCSI-2, and my USB being on the same IRQ.

I have plenty of free IRQs...how do I manually set them?

I read somewhere that I can reinstall Win2k..during setup, it'll ask me to load drivers with F6...then I push F5 and select standard PC. If I do this, will all my configurations be deleted? How about updates like the critical updates and SP1?

Thanks!

Move the scsi card to another slot. Certain IRQs are bound/shared w/particular PCI/ISA slots but you have to look it up for the motherboard that you have and try to relocate it to another slot.

If you install something off the Win2K CD I think you're supposed to reinstall the SP1 or you might experience some problems down the line.

There is no SB Emulation in Win2K.

I really ought to write a FAQ or something for this...here's my recycled answer:

All devices on 1 IRQ huh? Windows 2000 has been installed in ACPI mode and that is how it assigns its plug and play resources. Most people have no problems, other people do have problems. Usually it's all assigned to IRQ9...supposedly it's used as a gateway to virtual IRQs above 15.

Anyway, here is the article from Microsoft dealing with it.

If you want to manually assign IRQs, or just let Windows do it properly, you have to change the ACPI mode HAL to Standard PC HAL.

To do this, go into Device Manager, and look under Computer. It should say Advanced Configuration Power Interface PC. Change this to Standard PC by changing the driver. Then reboot. Hopefully it should come out OK. The problem with doing this is that it does not support the APM drivers as a fallback, so you will need to manually switch off your computer. There is a way to install it....it's here on the forums somewhere, although I do not believe it is a complete solution.

If you need to reinstall, hit F5 while it is detecting all the devices right at the very beginning to manually select the Standard PC HAL. You may also need to turn ACPI off in the BIOS if you have that option.
