How do I get my street known?

TridenT

Lifer
1139 W 30th St
Vancouver, WA 98660-2088 Puts me on the wrong place of the map on Google Maps and it is a LEADING cause as to why UPS cannot deliver shit to my house. They don't know where the street is. http://maps.google.com/maps?hl...1&ie=UTF-8&sa=N&tab=wl Shows where it thinks I live, but I live just west of that on a street that has no name, along with two streets right below and above me with no name... (29th and 31st)

Any idea how to get my place known so I can actually receive shipments? Only place that knows where I live is USPS. 🙁

Sign, sign, everywhere a sign. Put up your own street sign with an arrow showing the way.

I think I might... Just put up a big billboard where UPS thinks my house is and say, "THIS IS WHERE I LIVE" and a big arrow. 🙂

Can't use USPS for newegg and many other websites.

No no no....

:music: where the streets have no name :music:

It's just a mapping error.

My GPS thinks our house is at the opposite end of the street for some reason.

And your street is known. It's West 30th.

😕

I was told by my sister-in-law who is the renter of this place that it is exactly what I have written down. 🙁 I tried Way in google maps, same result.

But it's a big mapping error, I can't receive fucking shipments! I am supposed to get two packages today... We'll see if we get them or not. Last time they said, "COULD NOT FIND"

No, it's not... Look west and you'll see like 70 houses all crammed next to eachother on three streets... That's where I live.

I guess I don't quite understand the problem.

Anybody with half a brain can look at the addresses up and down W. 30th St. and find your house....?

No, it's not that simple. the street disconnects and then you have to go another way to continue on the 30th street. There is a field inbetween W 30th, normal... and my W 30th. So you have to take another street to get onto my 30th. It's weird. That's why they can't find it, they don't realize there is a street to get over.

Is this centered on your street?

If so, I'd be willing to wager that it is 30th Way. look at 33rd-35th Way just north of there..

Ahhh. I can't find it on the map, but I know exactly what you're talking about.

We had the exact same problem when I lived in Portland. We lived on a road called Con Battin RD, and it had two parts.. separated by a highway. Many times, pizza delivery people would go down to the "lower" Con Battin RD, and call saying they couldn't find our address.

I never had a problem with UPS/Fedex though, GPS software would locate the house just fine.

I'm not sure how you would go about getting mapping software fixed.

Hmm... I'll have to talk to my sister-in-law and see if she can call up her landlord and ask him. That does look rather convincing, now that I see the other Ways just north. Blah... It shouldn't make this much of a fucking difference though! Gosh, I am angry. 🙁

EDIT: And yes that is about centered on where I live. Use google street view and you can see 1138 on 30th street.

Ahh, I see.

Yeah, strange that the streets aren't labeled. It's obviously a new construction. Just give it time. I don't know how long it takes, though.

On another note, jesus fucking Christ. I don't know about anybody else, but that housing development makes me sick. Who would want to live there? It looks like .. I don't know. Horrible.

It gets even more complicated. Look on Mapquest and it lists it as"Nw 30th St."...

You could draw attention to your street by brutally murdering someone in the middle of the street and calling your local news station ahead of time so they get there just as you're about to do the deed.

I'll keep it in mind. 🙂

IT IS STREET, NOT WAY.. I checked the STOP signs and it says, W 30th St

I checked the county property maps, and they clearly show it as "W 30th St." and only one property with that address. Not sure what the mapping services are missing.

Edit: I used to do this stuff all the time when I worked for a land surveyor.
