How do I get my old printer to start printing again?

I have an old Epson Stylus COLOR 600 that I haven't used in 2 years. I just took it out of the closet today and gave it some new ink.
I did the print head cleaning about 5 times, and it still won't print anything. When I try to print, only a few black lines will come out, and no color at all.
It was working fine before I put it in the closet.
Any suggestions?

Epsons if they set a long time clog their jets. The Jets are in the printer and not in the ink cart like with HP so even changing the cart still does not fix it. Sometimes running the cleaning utility many times will get it unclogged but I have had Epsons that would never unclog and one was a 600 like yours. Try running the cleaning a few more times and if it does not work get a new printer.

All the Epsons I have had or used don't like sitting long periods of time not being used.

hmmm I cleaned it about 10 times already, I guess it has no hope.
I just opened two ink cartridges for it :(
I already have a canon i850, but I was planning on gviing this one away to a needy friend.

I second this motion. If you must get it to work, it's going to require some alcohol and a syringe to pump the alcohol through the heads.

If your really mechanical, you can pull the head out and try cleaning it. There used to be a kit that came with a big syringe that you would try and force cleaner throught the jets. I tried this a long time ago, and was able to get most of the jets printing again. Text printing was ok, but color showed the still blocked jets. You could also put the printhead, jets down, in a pan with a thin layer of cleaner and hope it disolves the clogs over time. Either way, it's not a quick or easy fix.

I used to have an Epson Stylus Photo 750 for about four years until I bought my current Canon iP4000. I'd print usually at least once a week, and I'd have to clean the damn nozzles every time....
