Just suck it up and head to an electronics store in the morning to purchase a new one. Heck if you lived near by I would tell you to stop on by and pick one up from me. I have 4 of those laying around from old speaker sets.
I thought about buying one. I am sure I can find one for a few bucks, but money is not a problem here. I am just pissed about this guy is avoiding for this miscellaneous cable he doesn't need.
Either learn to be a better custodian of one's own property or let the damn thing go already.
DO you really want to give this much power in your life to this event?
I am very selective about my friends. people like this normally don't enter my life, he is just an exception.
I had a 'pal' like this a few years back. He loaned (without asking or telling me) my Starcraft CD to his girlfriend, then a month later breaks up with her in a nasty way. I didn't miss it at first, until one night we decide to reinstall it and play some - he tells me where the CD was. I'm cool with it - but tell him ne needs to get it back, or buy a new one (by this time they were easily found for $10)... skip forward a couple months and many nags later, still no CD.
I told him I didn't want him around any more. Over a $10, probably 3-year-old game. Rather, the *principle* of the three year old, $10 game.
As others have said, cut your losses and move on.
