It's a TP-Link Model # TL-W642G.

The DHCP server is disabled so It won't give the computer an IP address, hence no connection. And the rest button doesn't seem to do anything. I'm at my wits end. HELP !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

TIA

Do you know what is the default IP after Hard Reset?

If you do connect to the Router a single computer and configure the computer manulaly to a Static IP that is of the same Subnet as the Default IP of the Router.

Then use the browser to connect to the Router.

From the manual:

There are two ways to reset the router's factory defaults:
1) Use the Factory Defaults function on System Tools -> Factory Defaults page
in the router's Web-based Utility.
2) Use the Factory Default Reset button: First, turn off the router's power. Second,
press and hold the default reset button then turn on the router's power, until the
SYS LED lights up (about 3 seconds). Last, release the reset button and wait
for the router to reboot.

*Edit*

Just so you know, the manual referenced 192.168.1.x. Yep, 192.168.1.1 is the default ip for the router, try 192.168.1.2 or above.

I stumbled upon the very text quoted above, thanks mcmilljb. I don't have the manual and apparently TP-Link doesn't want you to find it on their website, I couldn't.

Anyway, following the directions EXACTLY did indeed reset the router so now all is well. It's not just a matter of pushing the reset button as with most routers. You have to hold the reset button in, plug in the power, then continue to hold for 3 seconds. Do it any other way and no joy. Hopefully this will save some other poor soul some grief.

BTW: setting the PC to the same subnet as the router didn't work. I have no idea why but it didn't. I couldn't ping it or get into setup even tho Windows said I was connected to it. Both wirelessly and wired.
