It's just the lack of proper human decency and respect that got me boiling. I knew the most sensible thing would be to talk to his old man. But the kid pushed my buttons so much that I am beyond this point now. All I wanted to do while picking up the remaining leaves was hearing his bones snap.

Damn, I am probably too old to deal with this kind of juvenile crap. But god, what does it take to hammer down some values into those kids.

Talk to the dad first in a calm, reasonable demeanor.

Then at some random point in the future, BAM -slashed tires.

- No motivation to retaliate (after all, you took the high road and spoke to his dad) and you get your comeuppance. Win-win.
 
Find out where the kid studies or works.

Hire a tranny hooker show up with flowers and chocolates.

That kid will be left traumatized for life.

If you talk to the neighbor about what happened, you're letting him know that a.) his son is shirking his responsibility b.) all the hard work and effort you and your family made (try to emphasize your family, as he saw you guys working together) was put to waste because of his son's negligence.

I'd talk to the neighbor in an objective fashion and see what he says first.

Of course if there's some pushback you have two options:
a.) kick ass
b.) chew bubblegum

talk with the old couple. odds are they know the kids is a douche. If they are paying him then they need to know he didn't do the full job. not to mention next time they will talk to him and ask him not to blow them into your yard.

sheesh even as a kid i didn't do that. it does blow my mind how rude some people are today.
 
I would talk to his parents and let them know what happened and move on. The kid is a jerk. It doesnt matter what you do to him, he wont get it.

If he is 18-19 and acts like this, he has already gotten away with it on his parents for years.

I am not saying that talking to the parents is a complete waste of time, but you should not expect anything really to come of it (except the kid will probably be pissed at you after he had to spend more than 10 seconds talking to his parents about this).

If the couple is as old as the OP is saying, why would you assume the son is 18-19 and still lives with them? The son is probably in his 30s

Truth.

At this point, the kid thinks what he did is fine. He'll take any retaliation as "you are an asshole", not because he deserves it.

Cut to the chase and talk to the parents. It's obvious that they are TRYING to at least make the kid learn some responsibility, it's just about 10 years too late.

There is no way to get back at the kid. The dad obviously knows that you did your side and that you were going to do his side too, so he will handle the situation when you tell him what his kid did. End of story.
 
You could try the Jeeebus three-step program that has a guaranteed 100% success ratio. It takes some work, but the payoff is well worth the effort.

1. Develop a meaningful and deep relationship with his parents. Go to the movies with them. Every Saturday for the next year make sure you have a game night, maybe Scrabble or Monopoly, where you're in their house at least half the time. You might want to purchase a boat if you can afford one and new sailing attire (does not matter if power or sail boat). Invite them out. Go fishing. Be the best friends you can. Important, however.... do not befriend the teenage kid. Remember, even though step 1 takes many years, do not lose sight of your ultimate goal.

2. Switch careers. For this plan to work, you need tremendous experience in banking and e-security. I recommend moving to Switzerland and taking an apprenticeship with one of the largest Swiss banks. You'll need to do drugs, lots of them. Hang out in seedy bars and solicit hand jobs from strangers. Eventually you'll meet an elite Swiss hacker that can finalize your training in manipulating sensitive computer and financial data.

3. You're finally ready. Stab the little shithead in the face with a screwdriver.
