I have the gamecube plugged in through the standard yellow plug and the corresponding adapter that came with my card, but I cannot figure out how I get it to show up on my screen

I installed ATI Multimedia center, the wdm driver, catalyst control center and I cant seem to find how to display the input. I tried "capture from device" in movie maker, but it says no devices found. I have no idea what to do.

Your card should have come with software which can access a TV capture card. If not, or you lost it, software like VirtualDub works as well.

You should be using the adapter cable for the card which has 2 yellow and 2 black connectors on it, and make sure you're using the INPUT connector.

I thought ATI Multimedia Center would let you watch TV, but apparently it only allows that if you have a card with a TV tuner, it doesn't just let you watch via S-Video or composite inputs. You still might want to go into the ATI MMC configuration dialog and see if the video card is available to select as an input source there.

Of course, make sure the VIVO chip is actually listed in Device Manager.

There are lots of third party apps, like virtualdub, that will let you watch the input from the card, but I'm not sure if vdbub actually lets you make it full-screen like a real TV application would.

i tryed one program yesterdayDscaler but that one blows for gaming (2 sec response time) i think its because it features deinterlacing

program i recomend is "Open Video Capture"

http://www.programurl.com/open-video-capture.htm to dl it

u dont need to register it

if it doesnt pull up ur source auto matically check to make sure video in is set to "composite"

if that dont work u dont have vivo or dont have it installed correctly

ATI ****ed up their drivers. I had a thread on this forum outlining the issue, but apparently it was deleted/purged from inactivity.

Starting from Catalyst 6.3 to some recent version, ATI started trying to install the ALL IN WONDER WDM driver on Radeon VIVO cards.. which resulted in VIVO not working. Therefore, I've been using Catalyst 6.2 for at least half a year, just for the purpose of playing GameCube as well. Just a few days ago, I installed Catalyst 6.10 (making a system restore point for 6.2 drivers) and tried video in.. and it worked.

So check your Catalyst driver version. If it's less than 6.2, upgrade to 6.2 for guaranteed working VIVO. If it's greater than 6.2, try upgrading to 6.10 and try again; if that doesn't work, use Driver Cleaner to get rid of 6.10 and downgrade to 6.2.

As for software to watch the video-in, I just use VirtualDub since it's free and easy (and if you wanted, you could also capture some clips).

You can select the input source directly from the the MMC TV app. "Icon on the far right on the the TV app GUI"

do u experience delay doing gamecube on the x850? i hooked this up for my kids but it was deemed unplayable due to the delay betewwn the screen and the controller...

is there some setting i missed? i was using the ati mmc... does it work better with one of the other programs mentioned here?

had the same issue with the x1800xt, so i figured it was just the way it is...

There is a delay in all recent MMC versions with cards using the NSP WDM drivers (all the newer cards) These drivers allow for much better A/V sync and you no longer need to use line input for audio. However you gain a lag which sucks for console input, and live TV is always buffered now in MMC.

I believe you can force install earlier WDM driver versions from last year that contain both the SP and NSP drivers (Cat 5.5 or 5.6? not sure) You'll have to plug the audio into your soundcard.

I've built filter graphs using Graphedit which allowed for playable console input, but haven't checked it recently. Perhaps if I get a chance today, I can see if its possible with my x1800 card which does have VIVO.
