i have a cordless mouse. and I have a trackball.

i plug my mouse in the ps/2 port. and I plug the trackball one of my serial ports. But only the mouse works.

Is there any way to get them both to work at the same time? or am i just doomed to use one at a time?

by the way, i am using win98.

As far as I know, it can't be done.

Unless there's some program out there that does it that I'm not aware of.

Care to explain *why* you'd want to do this?

(I don't know if it's possible)

I've had a USB and a PS/2 mouse both working at the same time on a WinXP machine. I'm not sure about 98 or serial.

I connected two usb mice to my PC, still had one pointer but control of it alternated btw each mouse frequently. Then the crashes began.

I have two hooked up as well.
But you only get ONE curser, so what good is it?

They both move the same curser.................

I think he wants to have both hands free to work on ....other things.... His right foot controls the mouse that moves the pointer, and his left mouse controls the mouse that's clicking on the On-Screen Keyboard...heh.

i want to use the mouse for regular stuff, (i.e. browsing the web, navigating windows, etc).

and I want to use the trackball for photoshop and image editing, (it just seems easier).

And I don't want to plug in the trackball and reboot everytime I feel like using photoshop.

Kinda like my setup.

A gaming mouse (USB) and a optical (PS2)

You should just be able to install them both.

The trouble starts when you try and run two differant types of software for them.

As long as you use only one mouse program (That came with your mouse or track ball) and let the OS see the other as a regular PS2 mouse or track ball, you should be OK.

I use an external mouse on my laptop all the time using Win2K The internal mouse still works when I have the external one connected, I don't see why you wouldn't be able to get your mouses to work. Maybe it's a serial port issue?

Ive had my built in trackpoint, a MS intellipoint 3.0USB, a Logitech trackball USB and a plain 2 button PS/2 all attached at the same time with no problems.

If Only MS and Logitech mouse drivers could coexists side by side though... *sigh*

It's not oficial... the jury is still out.... both are acceptable.
