guys, i really need help, i have no clue about macs...even how to boot from a cd...i just got one, i want to put a new copy of osx on it but i don't know how to format!

i have an ibook 800mhz...with cdrom

don't know if you need more information than that but that's what i got! thanks!

You can take the drive out and slave it in a PC, and run a format or even a zero-fill on it.

EDIT: Never mind, the iBook may be a bit more of a challenge, just go with what I say below.

Then the OS X disk should let you format with Mac's file system.

Yeah, when you go to install the OS, just choose to format the drive (It's an option).

You can also access disk utility from the startup disc (Apple --> Disk Utility). That will let you repair, format, partition, etc 🙂

hold down the mouse button upon boot up and this will cause the cd drive to eject upon boot up. Certain ibooks have a button on the right side that also allow you to open the cd drive. To boot from the cd (once the install OS cd is in the drive) as soon as you power up hold down the "c" key. This tells the computer to boot from the cd.
