That cheapo coat is not going to keep you warm. Not being sarcastic actually. A decent cold weather coat is going to be at least $300. $1000 for a quality one.

Well, that would kind of defeat the purpose of crawling into the wheel well to avoid paying for economy class.:colbert:

This is the same coat they use at research stations at the South Pole:

You'll freeze to death with a cheap $99 coat.

But something like this would be best:

I didn't say he would be comfortable. Hell, he'll be lying on top of landing gear and a wheel for 13 hours. If he wears some layers he'll be slightly hypothermic at worst. Nothing a few hours in the Hawaiian sun won't fix.

i am thinking about saving that for year after next

a friend might want to go with me to hawaii, but isn't really interested in europe. plus no passport headaches to worry about.

"Passport Headaches"?

What's up with that, is someone on the no fly list?

Convicted Terrorist?

Felons?

The key is to shop around different airports. When I flew from the East Coast, I actually found 1 connection flights cheaper from my regional airport than flying direct through Atlanta or Charlotte. In 2006, I paid $900rt The direct flights were like $300 more from ATL.

They also say you can shop different days of the week and get different prices. I think Monday-Tuesday nights are the cheapest days of the week to book your trip (no matter when you actually fly), if that applies anymore...

BoomerD's post is a good example of what to check, but you can typically find the airlines that are the cheapest...then find out who they partner with and setup a trip. Island to Island airfare is usually $60-100 a ticket. I flew into Honolulu, then caught another flight to Kauai. Flying direct to the island you want to be on is hit or miss long-distance without doing a West Coast connection....far more options from LAX and SFO.

I see a guy on the street corner across from the South Coast Plaza mall here in Costa Mesa with a sign that says airfare to Hawaii for $99.00.

What could go wrong???

I bet they are time share people that will make you sit through 3 hours of time share sales presentations.

You can use Allegiant Airlines to get from Las Vegas or Los Angeles to Honolulu for $350-$400 round trip depending on which dates you pick.

I think you are over-thinking how many avios you need.

I'm seeing all kind of AA saver awards in February from LAX to HNL. You just have to check the BA site.

Here's one on February 1 for 12.5K avios

You're going to have to be flexible on dates (it only works with AA saver awards), but you can get to/from the west coast to hnl for 25K avios. It's stupid cheap.

And, you may be able to find aa saver awards to get you to the west coast. But you'll have to search for each segment separately. BA's site is really bad for that

I get that his body went into hypothermic shock and shut down but what I don't get is how he didn't fall out of the wheel well on approach for landing since the cops said he was found an hour after the flight had landed. Anyway what a dumb-fuck thing to do, anyone past 3rd grade should realize planes cruise at 30,000FT+ and your almost certain to die.

You can usually cut your flight costs considerably if you don't need exact dates. Flying my wife and child to texas we saved over $600 by allowing a 3 day window on either side of a given date.

Take plane from California, in general it won't be cheap in strict sense, Hawaii is as far from US as much as Europe is.

...no

About 5 hours to Hawaii from CA.

And about 10+ hours (direct) to "Europe" from CA. I think direct from the East coast is usually at least 8 hours, right?

Though, I guess if flying to Hawaii from some other part of the US< it certainly becomes more comparable.

hawaii is 5.5 hours from cali, and europe is 5.5 hours from the north east (ny and md area).

coming back is about an hour longer from europe to the east coast though due to no jet stream, and having the jet stream going back from hawaii to cali.

so i am seriously thinking about a vacation to hawaii next spring

anyone know what the best way is to get there from the west coast, in the cheapest way possible?

Sign up for the Alaska airmiles credit card, get a $99 companion ticket every year on the anniversary date, buy 1 fare and it will cost about $500 return from Bellingham WA. I do this every year. It can be used anywhere Alaska flies to.

What's cheap? I bought a ticket to Hawaii this week and it cost me just over a grand which I thought was decent.

Maybe if you got a respectable job you could join us and stop bitching about Operation Choke Yer Chicken or whatever it is 😀

Hows the health?
Well the wife is still in Israel and she said no to the stripper pole and dancers so what other option do I have? Unless you want to come give me a hand.😉

Gotta get the cholesterol checked soon. Fluctuating between 6 and 8lbs down from the diet change.
