How do I fill in PDF files in Acrobat?

Does anyone know how to do this with acrobat easily or with another app?

I know acrobat has some ediiting tools but it doesn't seem like there is anything simple like a text entry tool or a checkbox tool that will simply let me fill it in.
 
i would love to know this too. to date i have had to resort to scanning forms to presto pagemanager to fill in lines etc. it would be very nice to simply scan as a pdf, fill in and then email or print...
