I am trying to network mine and my dad's comp's so i can use his printer.

Both are Win2k

Created a dialup with the correct phone no. on my comp

Created a 'Incoming Connection' on my dad's comp

When i click on the DUN to dial, the phone in our house (2 separate lines, 1 for me 1 for him) just rings and rings
and his comp doesn't answer.

I have made his printer shared.

Am I missing somthing??

Thanks.

Are the PC's close enough to wire together with a crossover cable and two NICs? That's the best way to link them by far , as printing will be much faster. There's also the possibility of phoneline networking, which I've seen some people use fairly effectivly.

I wouldn't be much help on DUN two pc's, sorry :D

No they're not close enough to link, I only wanted to use it occasionaly for backup or a bit of printing.

You will need to set the software up so that it will answer the incomming call. What are you using to establish the dialup connection, Dial-up networking server? Try this link

How do I set up my dad's comp to recieve a connection? I went to Dialup Networking and created an 'Incoming Connection' like it says to in the help file and dialed up using a standard dialup on my comp.

What do I put in the user name and password when i dial from my comp?

Those links only covered Win9x but thanks anyway, anyother ideas?

Try typing into the "search" bar in Win2K's START => "Help" feature "dial-up server".
You should see a topic "Configure an existing connection to use TCP/IP".
Have a good read through them all. You should have no probs after digesting that lot :)
hope this helps,
