how do I enable the ide 2 to udma in win2k?

I got the primary working at udma but not the secondary? how do I get it going?

Any help would be greatly appreciated

try the device manager. click properties on ide2, and advanced settings. there should be a pull down menu, it will say something like "dma if available" or "pio only"

I did try that. The device manager is set on "dma if available" but it is still in pio mode.

Yes I did. I got the primary ide working by disabling it in the bios. I tried the same thing for the IDE2 but it didn't have any effect.

is it an old cdrom? it could be that the cdrom is not ata33. the bus will run at the speed of the slowest device.

No, It is a new CD rom, 52x. I had my system up and running before and it worked fine. However, for some reason it is not acting properly. is there a fix that I could try?

sorry I'm out of ideas. I don't know why it would work on one bus and not the other.
