The car did just fine driving around Pittsburgh when they closed the campus because of 14 inches of snow and ice. Just take it slowly, don't make any sudden moves, and start in second gear instead of first. If it's really bad, start in third gear. It's not the best thing in the world for your clutch, but it can keep you moving.

power to ratio compared to what??

my mustang had 225 and 300 ft/lb torque weighing about 2800 lbs. 225's on there too. it was horrible for anything wet or slippery.
Compared to Jellomancer's 240SX, what else would I be comparing it with? He asked the question, and so I was replying to him. Sheesh, no need to get your panties in a wad because you're defensive about your car when someone else isn't even talking about it.

:)

my panties are fine where they are.

i didn't know jellomancer had a 240sx and he never said that 's what he had in his post. i'm the only one that posted the name of a car in this thread. and since you didn't state SPECIFICALLY who you were responding too. . .
:) Sorry, no coffee yet (yeah, I'm a college bum and I don't wake up until about noon). If I'm reaponding to something other than the thread topic and thread poster, I quote the post I'm referring to. Otherwise I figure that if there's no quote people will assume that I'm talking about the original post that started the thread.

hell, you havn't driven on ice until you've done a donut (not intended!) on a busy road.

drive slow and take it easy.

Agree with Slow and Easy. I liked the "egg under the acclerator" idea too. Sliding around on a busy road makes my day. I am glad I usually have a change of shorts in my car!

that's prolly the dumbest thing you can do~

You're gonna throw off the whole balance of the car and have the rear end fishtail out~

Sand bags would be for snow not ice~ and even with snow it's not safe

Bad conditions here in Ft. Worth. Gotta go to the store, so I'll be driving on ice.
First rule - Got a horn and a gas pedal, don't need no brakes.
Second rule - keep the wheels turning, if you have to stop on an incline, you may not be able to get moving again, and will slide downhill.
Rule three - You know those little bamboo umberellas? get 4 of them (they come in a drink) and sit it out.

ROOKIES!!!!!

just drive slowly and normally, ice is ice and your not gunna save yourself if you lose traction on it, i mean what do you think when ur on ice, you can magically get traction and keep yourself straight while still on the ice?

oh yeah and dont be paranoid, just remember not to overcorrect if you do fish tail, sumtimes that ends up worse than not correcting at all.

(sry if that sounded like a rant it wasnt ment to be)

It's been done. Just be careful of black ice.

Wait you live in Texas right? You probably don't have a lot of ice compared to us. Drive the 240 in -30C and then talk! Don't worry about it though, it drives fine. Just be easy on the throttle and be smooth. Don't jerk the wheel.

Does your 240 have the VLSD?
