how do I do a PM?

By enabling it in your profile, and clicking on the pm icon in the message toolbar (the lock icon). The help is not done for FuseTalk 3 yet, once it is it will be uploaded.
 
Click the "no new message(s)" link at the top of the page, right under the AT logo. Then type in the username of the person you want to send a PM to. Alternatively, click the Lock icon next to someone's post to PM them.
