that applied to swapfille alot of times. its not a big deal.

When I install windows the next thing I do is defrag it, then defrag it after I install servicepacks and updates. In my mind, this keeps it neater....but probably nowhere else.

You will need to do an offline defrag with a 3rd party app to defrag system and MFT files

set the swap size to zero, then defrag and turn them back on.

right click on my computer, properties, advanced, performance settings, advanced, chage virtual memory to zero or check no paging file in XP. when you turn it back on after defrag, set it to a constant size, dont let the system manage it -- it actually can make a huge performance difference; and if the system manages it, its also likely to get fragmented again.

system restore might also be marked as system files; turning off system restore (computer properties, system restore, disable) will delete all old restore points. ill let you decide if thats worth it.

you might want to go through the services panel and turn off anything unnecessary too; not sure if this will really do anything.

this should get rid of close to all system files. there might still be a green bar or two for file system metadata, but if anything moves that its reformat time.

Your quoting skills are teh suck.

Daft = bad. Defragging in Safe Mode = slow as sh!t = daft.

Both Diskkeeper and PerfectDisk do off line defrag of system files (there are more than just the page files - also MFT files are done that way) on boot.
