How do I cook steak???

Well it's frozen now.... don't really want to throw it on the grill frozen, right? Let it thaw out until it feels like meat again and throw it on?

lol...well i always buy the meat fresh from the deli and throw it on... kinda first time i've done it frozen. It's thawing out on my counter right now

er, ask your gf to cook it for you.. that's what they're for....

j/k

personally, i 'd thaw it out.... and while they're thawing, i always marinate them if you like marinated steak....

If you throw a frozen steak on the grill, it will get done on the outside but it may still be frozen inside. You can defrost it a little in a microwave set on "defrost," but do not try to defrost it all the way. You'll ruin it.

well, while it thaws, get a bowl, put some soy sauce, salt, sugar, garlic, etc etc etc, and mix them all. once the steak is thawed, dump the sauce into teh steak and let it marinade for a bit. then put it in a hot wok or pan, and voila......you got yourself a nice juicy steak....

but yea, the thing I do'nt lik about steakhouses is that all they do is put it in the oven. Sure, it comes out cooked, but there isn't that flavor and smell to it..........

For my favorite marinade let it soak in some Italian dressing before you cook it. If it is cheap meat, beat it with a meat tenderizer(anything will do if you cover the meat sufficiently).

Well, I assumed he was a bachelor. The George Foreman grill is a prerequisite for bachelorhood.

What are you, insane?! Ask your gf to cook pasta, ask her to make vegetables, ask her to do anything that DOESN'T go on the BBQ. If it goes on the BBQ, do it yourself, it'll come out better 😉

A few thoughts on the art of cooking a good steak:

- A man cooks his own steak, not his wife or GF. Sorry if that sounds old-fashioned, but if a man can only cook one thing in his whole life, it should at least be a good steak.

- Steak should always be fresh and should never be frozen. Once it has been frozen, it is no longer truly steak. However, if you must cook the meat-formerly-known-as-steak, please defrost it first, out in the open NOT in the microwave :Q

- Good steak is only cooked one way: on a grill, preferably over charcoal. It is not microwaved, baked, pan-fried, or other such things.

- A good steak can be ruined by bad cooking. No amount of good cooking can make a bad cut of meat good.

Personally, I like mine with a nice dry rub of pepper and garlic, then a light coating of BBQ sauce to aid searing and hold in the juices, then cooked over a hot grill, flipped once to perfect medium rare.

btw, this is definitely a repost.

Here's another take on how to defrost it.

If you have an electric stove, put the steak in a plastic bag or saranwrap and put it on top of the heating element/coil. Don't turn on the oven. Just leave the steak on top of the coil.

The coil is a very good heat conductor and is also very good at dissipating heat/cold. It actually thaws out food faster than just leaving it on your countertop.

Well the steak must be done by now, but how you cook it depends on the cut of beef and thickness. You should not cook a round steak like a filet.

Edit. Tell us what kind of steak, and how thick

1) start fire
2) spit meat
3) lean meat ouf over fire on spit
4) wait
5) pull meat away from fire
6) wait
7) eat

Be sure to use high heat so your steak ends up medium rare. One time I went w/ some friends to a steak place, and one of them ordered "well done".... I almost took him out back and beat the sh!t out of him. What a waste of perfectly good steak
