If this card has a temp probe built in, where can i get software for it?

If not, what is the easiest way for me to be able to check the temperature of the card?

also: after downloading catalyst v4.7 drivers my card shows up as a 9800XT. What exactly does that mean...? (like good news/bad news)

You card does not have a temperature probe. That would only be a 256mb card that was flashed to a 9800XT.

As far as the name changing for your card, don't sweat it.

go to the overdrive tab

rightclick on desktop ----> settings ----> advanced ----> overdrive.

I think these are just underclocked 9800xt's so they may have the temp probe, check it ou!

Overdrive isn't available on the 9800 Pro unless it can be modded into a 9800 XT and even if that's possible some Radeon 9800 Pro's modded into a XT may still not have overdrive available.

Tim, you said your card showed up as a 9800xt... all 9800xt's and 9600xt's have the overdive tab in the catalyst control panel. Sorry, i don't have much experiance with this card. Double click on the catalyst control panel and see if you see any tabs that say that.

If it shows as one then you should have the overdrive tab. But i guess you don't.

The msi 9800 pro (rx9800) is a 9800 pro with a r360 (xt) core.

From this review:
As the picture clearly shows, the core is indeed R9800XT (R360). However, the board does NOT have temperature sensor enabled thus there is no support for OverDrive function.
