how do i change the text color for icons on the desktop in XP

you can use d-color (much easier) or stylebuilder (more advanced)

Right click on the desktop, left click on properties, left click on appearance, left click on advanced, left click on the Item pulldown, select Icon. You should be able to change the color on the right if you are in windows classic mode. Note that using Themes prevents you from changing this.

Here it is.

i can't seem to get it to work.

Install & run the program. You'll see an icon in the systray. double-click it & a window will open w/ an option to change the text color.
