how do I change the sound sampling frequency on a PS2?

I captured some soccer games at 44.1khz. My PS2 currently only plays stuff at 48khz. The PS2 is supposed to have selectable audio frequencies. The DVD plays with sound on my roommates normal Sony DVD player but I get no sound from my PS2....

how do I change the sound sampling frequency? and can I change it back and forth between the two?

I would imagine that it should either play it automagically, or upsample it. Having a switch would be kinda dumb, it's not like they can't detect it.

I really don't think there's a way to change the sampling rate on a ps2... either it's compatible or it's not.
