Exactly the same way as every other car. Remove drain plug. let oil drain. replace drain plug. replace oil filter. Fill engine with oil.

I don't know where or what the drain bolt look like or what tools to remove it with. That's what I'm asking for help in.

I know the general procedure ofcourse, but thanks for those who gave me it.

OK, go to the Honda Dealership and pick up an oil filter (Honda filter is recommended, but any other brand except Fram is OK) and a new Al press washer (required every couple oil changes). Then go to an auto parts store and get four quarts of either Valvoline Max-life, or Castrol High-Mileage (it?s a 91, and has plenty of miles right? High mileage oil doesn?t burn away as quickly.) and a filter (not Fram) if you didn?t get one at the dealership.

Then drive up on your ramps, take your 17 mm wrench, and remove the drain plug from the bottom of the engine. When it slows to a drip every couple of seconds, put the plug back in using the new press washer.

Then you need to reach up behind the engine to get at the old filter turn it counter-clockwise. You might need an oil filter wrench to remove it, but you shouldn?t. Oil will spill out, (unless it?s a FRAM, because their anti-drainback valves don?t work), so watch out.

Fill up the oil filter with oil. Just pour it in up to the top, and it will be absorbed by the filter media. You want it about half full, so it won?t spill when you reinstall the filter. DO NOT use a filter wrench to tighten it. Just tighten it as well at you can by hand.

Refill the engine with the remainder of the four quarts, and start the engine. The oil pressure light should turn off within a few seconds. If it doesn?t, TURN THE ENGINE OFF and check for leaks. Make sure the filter is on properly and the drain plug is in place.

Good luck!

You would need to pay me $3000, the cost of a new engine, to put one of thoes things on my car. All you need is some piece of debris to knock it open on the road, and OOPS!!! Time for a new engine!!!

I've been turning a wrench to change my oil for 13 years. It works pretty well.

Al = the chemical symbol for aluminum ;)

It Honda recommends that you change the washer every time you change the oil, but I just do it every other time. It seals the oil plug without it needing to be tightened too much. Overtightening is very rough on the threads of the oil pan. The washer deforms a bit every time it's tightened, so it needs to be replaced every few times.

in most cases, the honda OE is a fram.

i admit i hang out at bobistheoilguy's site a lot but they can't really pin down anything too terrible on fram. yes they're too much money for what you get but it's not going to make your engine implode or something. it should work fine in this application (ph3593a or 6811).

Fram uses paper/cardboard for a end gasket, the pleats sometimes don't meet up, and even then they use so much glue sometimes it is loss in the filter. NEVER USE A FRAM FILTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Filter test 1
Filter test 2
Filter test 3

You can get a Tech2000(walmart), STP (Autozone), or purolator (Advance) that will be cheaper and better than Fram.

And yes some of Honda's filters are made by fram now, so I would not use them unless they are the OEM types that are made in Japan.

??? WTF? it sticks out like maybe twice as much as a normal bolt, which isn't much. anything that crunches into it that high is going to leave you with trouble no matter what. not to mention most cars have it slightly angled on the inside so it doesn't really stick out at all:p the hose keeps it easy and clean:p and well, you don't have to change washers .

They may be made in the same factory, etc., but I'm pretty sure they are NOT the same filter. Honda would not put up with that crap. Maybe I'll buy a Honda filter and a Fram 3593a and cut them open for the sake of curiousity.

Unfortunately, Fram does build a lot of Honda OE filters now. Complete with cardboard endcaps. It really sucks.

I don't know if it's the same as their aftermarket part, but that cardboard endcap is kind of the famous mark of a crappy fram filter.

I suggest therapy, but the oil's got to want to change, and it takes a really long time.

Too bad a lot of times those "properly maintained vehicles" are not properly maintained at all... my sister got her oil changed at one and they changed the oil by using an old used filter (no remanufactured and cleaned) and about 2-3 quarts of oil.... had my dad not been a car nut back in his day and stress checking the oil in the car OFTEN... she'd be dealing with a new engine for the car
