how do i change the bios of a lite on dvd rom drive?

My lite on dvd rom drive won't recognize dvd's but only cd's. It used to recognize dvd's, but not anymore. When I insert dvd's, there is nothiing in my computer that recognizes the dvd. but any cd is recognized. I changed it to an acer dvd rom drive, and that works perfectly fine.

I think my roommate flashed it behind my back. I am not sure, but I would like to verify that. But I dont know how. Any help would be appreciated. Needless to say, I don't really get along with him too well. Unfortunately.

I need the files that I need, and also the instructions. Thanks in advance.

beforre u tried to reflashing the BIOS on your drive u might want to try to install/reinstall the UDF driver....
 
What is UDF Driver?

I have tried to uninstall the power dvd that came with this thing, and reinstall that software, but that didn't work.
