How do i change my mobo w/o reinstalling windows?

With a little luck and a lot of prayer, windows MIGHT detect all the new integrated hardware and install it. I would just re-install though.

Your asking for trouble I think. It's better to backup and reinstall everything. Your system will run a lot better and you will avoid a lot of problems.

Last Year, I lucked out and Windows 98se detected all my equipment after a couple of reboots. I went from a Gigabyte bx chipset to Abit Via Apollo 133a chipset. I had to install the Latest Via drivers but that was it.

Give it a try. I just replaced the mobo in my kid's P2
without a glitch. If it doesn't work just format the hdd
and reinstall windows.

Normally, the best thing to do is run regedit and delete the entire key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/ENUM. This forces windows to rebuild ALL hardware info, have your driver disks ready. Doing this does NOT affect software at all, done it many times.

Good Luck! 😀

I just tested a friend's hard drive off his Intel 815 board to my old tritron vx PC, and all components was sucessfully detected by winME. Everything runs smooth off it. I made sure in system devices that everything looked good. It wouldn't seem like a big deal to me. If you want, remove all the devices that won't be used prior to the switch that way windows removes them nicely before you make the switch. Then windows will just detect the new components. I don't see why it would cause too much problems if you are careful and thorough.
