Hope this is the right forum. Trying a null ethernet cable to make an image to the desktop as the lappy is USB 2.0 and I'd rather not have to remove the drive as it's a PIA.

Both machines are completely updated Win 10.

What I'm getting under network settings is "no network access".

Suggestions?

Share the drive out of the desktop

Map a network drive on the laptop

It will get a drive letter, point the image software at the network drive

Thanks guys. I bit the bullet and backed up via USB overnight. The options mentioned didn't seem to allow for an image backup onto another machine although I might have missed it.

Thanks!

Generally, I've found that you can't image a system over the network unless you're using something like a clonezilla live cd--I use this all the time to make baseline images to a file server.
