I only have walmart stock and I contribute to the tune of $200/month of it towards stock purchase. This is a lot of money for me actually for what I make at walmart, making about $800/month there.

Wow! If you're dealing with multi-million dollar purchases and sales of property, I think your way beyond most of us. A Roth_IRA still seems like it would make sense for you to start, even though you make so much money.

Unfortunately, the EGTRRA 2001 act did not do away with MAGI restrictions for contributions toward a Roth. He may be ineligible.

Quixfire, please make sure you use life insurance properly to ensure that your estate is protected in the event of your death.

If you don't like government-sponsored plans, life insurance and non-qualified products such as annuities may also have a place in your overall holdings. Protect yourself.

Cheers ! :)

I only buy my company stock cause it's so damn cheap for us. But as I said in another thread, please God, I beg of thee... help our company stock price. I need the money pretty badly right about now.

(all stocks trade on the TSX)

CDV - Com Dev International - maker of satellite equipment.
BCE - Bell Canada Enterprises - Canada's largest phone company, they have interests in media, long-haul data networks, cell phone companies, etc.
ITW - Intrawest Corporation - large real estate company, they own Whistler/Blackcomb, Mammoth Mt., and other large resorts around North America.
PDG - Placer Dome - Canada's second largest gold mining company
HSE - Husky Energy - large Canadian oil/gas company

I'd say that my portfolio is fairly balanced even though I only hold 5 stocks... I have a representative of most major groups with the exception of the financial and industrial sector.

I have my eye on Canadian National (railway) and CIBC (large bank) to round out my portfolio as well.

7 of them but all technology stocks; so not really diversified.

AMD
DELL
CSCO (Cisco)
NOK (Nokia)
RHAT (Red Hat)
INTC (Intel)
ORCL (Oracle)

Trying to buy more at these low prices so that whenever....... it goes up, my break even point will be sooner or not as bad.
