how difficult is it to install window tint?

the cheapest place around wants $150 to tint my reg cab truck. That's 3 very simple windows... wtf... it can't be THAT hard... can it?

My dad did it once...it took a couple hours and some of the interior had to be removed....but it has stayed on and hasn't bubbled or anything yet.

I found it to be pretty hard, and if you do not do it right, then it could bubble and look like crap after a short time.

Two things to consider when getting windows tinted. Do they offer a lifetime warranty on the tint? Do they offer a lifetime warranty on the labor?

If so. $150 is not bad.

Mu mustang was like $180. Rear window, 2 sides , and those tiny two back windows.

VERY difficult, it's basically the only thing I didn't DIY on my car and with good reason. Take it to a shop where they may give you lifetime scratch protection and have machines to perfectly cut to the dimensions of your windows and heat guns and crap.

Bah, not hard at all. Simply cut to fit from the OUTSIDE, test it for fit dry, CLEAN WELL per directions, wet down and squeegy away. But do buy quality tint...
I've done complex curved windows, fixed windows, operable and tilt windows. Never a problem if you follow instructions and take your time. measure twice, cut once... And bubbles are not the problem, as rubbing them out, or piercing with pin, will clean them right up.
Its the prep work that counts the most...

these are very simple, practically square windows

150 it not bad assuming they guarantee it. If you've never done it, then let someone that knows what there doing do it.

We think you should do it, then post pics in 1 year.

i think people aren't getting to the main point.

they're very easy to do.

a huge pain to do right. If you have the energy and time, go for it. With enough patience you can do a job as good as the pros, but it takes quite a bit of work.

Well, lets see, still have the first one I ever did, a air-cooled vw bug. No bubbles/purple or whatever. And its been many years.
i did one bug by removing the glass, turned out very nice, as did the new headliner.
A hairdryer was used to heat the 'liner...
