How did you sell your car?

I just think that it's a tough situation in that it's only a couple grand less than a brand new one. The supply is also a lot more abundant than it was the previous few years (more used ones plus more available new) so buyers have more options available.

I still think you'll have to end up dropping your price another $1000 before you get serious offers.

yeap.

right now you have a good supply not to mention the price is still high (damn near the price of anew one).

i would lower the price a bit.

The best thing I did was pay ~$100 to have the car cleaned inside and out (including an engine shampoo). The first person to look at the car opened the hood and remarked to his dad that the car looked like it had never been used. His dad agreed.

I tried to convice my GF's sister to go for one of these, she drives a manual too! She would love the 3 series! But they went for a Toyota Camry instead!

I spent $58 to post of cars.com but sold it on a maxima.org forum.

I totally buffed out an Accord (cleaned, waxed, etc.), put For Sale signs in the windows, and parked on the curb outside a Honda dealership, while I stayed with the car.

Have to stay with the car to show it to all the people who come streaming out of the dealership. ALso have to be ready to quickly remove For Sale signs, as that's not allowed here, can get a ticket for that.

Sold it in about 15 minutes.

edit: You should remove the "Observed Fuel Economy" and "About the Seller" sections from your website advertisement. There is such a thing as over-disclosure in sales, and -- believe it or not -- it damages credibility more than it helps it. Simple statements like "30+ mpg," "non-smoker," "excellent condition," "one owner," and "properly maintained with all service records" work much better.
