try practicing small talk with ALL women you encounter. not just the ones that you might be interested in. it's much less intimidating to talk to a girl when you aren't hoping to ask her out.
does it really suck that much to be a guy? if it were a guy behind the counter i would WANT to talk to him.

assuming most of ATOT are introvert, computer geeks, i'd say lack of practice makes talking to women the most intimidating.

I'd say you're right... and if you're not and everyone but me weren't as you say, I'd balance things out. 😉

I would go on to make a conversation about weezer, then slowly start asking her what other bands she likes (maybe throw a couple u like in the mix). After there its cake dude, ask her out for drinks or even coffee after yall talk for a little while and if she likes you its all good.

To make small talk with women ask them about what they like to do, what they like and such. Dont reveal too much about yourself because you wanna leave her wanting more. Remember, that you have to make it sound like they will be missing out on some fun times if they dont do something with you.

Just stare at her and then run back to atot right away to post YAGT about how a hot chick hit on you and ask for advice. Then you can go back and be the pimp daddy. But remember...POB!!

you've gotta or probably do realize that to be a nerd is to be socially awkward and introverted. I'm stereotyping but on average its true. I maybe nerdy but I'm not introverted like I was in high school, college has a way of changing people.

Something like "Yeah I've been listening to them for awhile and have their other albums..."

Follow it up with details of being a roadie for them and intimate descriptions of what each band member looks like in the buff. It'll leave a lasting impression.

Say you're buying the new Weezer: Make Believe CD at Best Buy and the attractive girl cashier says, "I have this, it's really good". What would you say? I just stand there and smile and blank out. I'm not interested in a relationship, I just want to be able to say something and be more comfortable around women.

So, what would you have said in such a situation?

just pretend its a dude.

I found that if you see a girl you like, shake your hea no at her, just do it till she comes over to your table. When she asks what are you doing that for? Reply, I don't know but it got you to come over here and talk to me.

No, when you get older talking to women is easy. It all comes from self confidence. I have no problem talking to women I don't know. I frequently talk to women in the checkout line at grocery stores or wherever I interact with them. It's no big deal. Being married helps, I feel no pressure whatsoever to try to get to know them let alone ask them out. It's just small talk. I think women dig that.

Humor helps too. My wife and I laughed a lot when we first started dating. We still do.

If it was a guy behind the counter that said he had that same cd (first off people still buy cds? ) I would just say "okay" and try to end any potential for a conversation. If it was a girl that said that I would show a suprised expression and say something like "really? Glad you like it! " stuff like that.

but make it short and too the point. probably other people waiting in line behind you.

Yeah I was wondering about that too... being in a check out line is not where you should start conversations....

Aren't you like 36 years old?

Isn't the average age of a Best Buy cashier like 17?

Girl: I have this, it's really good.
SR: Cool, what's your favorite song?
Girl: <song title>
SR: What's your favorite Weezer song?
Girl: <song title> What's yours?
SR: <song title> Stick out your...
Girl: GTFU, you're holding up the line!

I'm 42 and that's why I said I wasn't interested in a relationship. I'm too old for her and it would be inappropriate. I just want to be able to be more comfortable around women so I can talk instead of just blanking out and clamming up.

I also am the same way with guys (clamming up) but it doesn't bother me as much.
