so before all this broadband and all that, how did you use to get online?

aol? compuserve?

I use to get free internet by using the free hours from aol, canceled, and wait for new CD...then I used netzero, and then, since the unversity had free internet, I would dial up their number....

btw, how do you enable pm?? so many years, but I dont know how to enable pm

CompuServe in early 90s, then a local ISP in mid 90s'. Broadband showed via cable up in 2000.

I think we had AOL for about two weeks before we decided that we hated it and got CompuServe. I'm pretty sure we had another service between then and when we got cable but I can't remember what it was.

Local ISP, started out at ~$6 a month, which was damn good in 1995. Highest it ever got was ~$8 a month in the 00-03 range.

Juno/Netzero. Was nearly a charter member. Juno was free dialup for years, and not limited to 10hr/mo like NetZero. :)

Compuserve, then AOL for like 2 days, already figured it was crap back then...

Then some form of secret access that I cannot spill any information regarding on these forums.

And..... 88mph, bla bla bla ... roadrunner

Local ISP, then Earthlink, now Access4less for about 5 bucks a month for unlimit useage.

Will have DSL/cable in a month.

For those of you think current dial up is too slow, we used to have to put up with 2400 bps for internet. Yup, not a typo, 2400 bps..LOL.
