How did you first find AT?

I'll start. About 4 years ago, I searched for advice on networking. To the best of my knowledge, that was the first time I saw AT. A couple of years later, I found the forums while surfing and the hot deals section and stuck around. Lurked until sept. of last year and finally signed up.

Hows about you?

I think I saw anandtech.com in a computer shopper magazine...went to the website, went to the forum...and so began an addiction. ;)

I was preparing to build my first computer (which I didn't do till September), and I was researching as early as April. Being your typical naive 13-year-old, I had been reading crap like Maximum PC for information, thinking that in order to game with any sort of acceptable frame rates (which I haven't done yet, actually) there was no way around spending $400 (at the time) for a 9800XT. (Of course, I failed to read--in mice type--that they conducted all their tests at 16x12.)

Anyway, I was researching online when I finally stumbled upon AnandTech. I checked periodically for new developments, because it looked like a good site for information on this kind of stuff. I read various things on here, and I actually got right information on this stuff, for once. I finally signed up for the forums in June, and I've been learning through here ever since.

Thresh's firingsquad had an article about hot deals. Ended up joining Fatwallet first, then joined Anandtech a month later. As time went on I found myself choosing AT Hot Deals over FW Hot Deals more and more. Then I migrated to ATOT

Edit: this article

friends were telling me about the hot deals forum. I was a lurker there for a few years, then found a really good deal and posted it, then with my account i drifted here.

I think the deal was a 15" powerbook for 1399 new. I got one of them and it is great. One of my friends got a similar one for about 2700 less than 6 months before.

I asked a friend a computer question and he sent me to hot deals...I believe I joined in order to ask a question regarding a free keychain
