Once, when I was over at my grandparents farm, I asked my Grandpa what sex was. He lead me to the horse corral, and there in the dirt, were my parents having sex.

Picked up a book at my school's library in second grade.

Got embarassed too: there I was, this curious 7 year-old, reading about "the birds and the bees" for the first time, and the next thing I hear are two teen-aged girls giggling behind me as they see what I am reading. At least I didn't care at the time.

<< Tell me that was a joke >>

Yeah, it was on the list of "deep thoughts" I found the other day. :D

When I was in grade school (4th or 5th grade, I think), I found my parents' copy of Everything You Ever Wanted to Know About Sex (but were afraid to ask). Learned more than I ever wanted to know from that :)

Then, ever the entrepreneur, I took it to school and charged my friends a dime each to look at it (hey, it was the 70's!) :D

speaking of bees...

two nights ago... i invited a few of my friends to my new apartment.
a few hours before they were to arrive, i saw a bee flying around in the apartment, and thought it was weird to see a bee in december. i was busy at the time, so i didn't pursue after it.

when my friends started to arrive, i had to go meet them out side to direct them to a parking location.
after a min or two of standing outside, i felt this sting on my left toe.

i immediately took my shoe off, and a bee flew out from my shoe.
i couldn't believe a bee got stuck in my shoe, and it took him that long to sting me.

well, it was my first time being stung... but no allergic reaction.

man... what are the chances.

if i had to choose between a bee and a bird... i'm going with a bird. ;)

That strategically placed book story reminded me of a recent series in
'For Better Or Worse" when the mother brought a book home so her
young daughter could 'find' it.
I wonder how many parents wimp out like that? :(

<< The T.V. was my parents growing up :p >>

Same here.

So would someone care to explain why "the Birds and Bees" is related to sex? Is it like a popular book title or something?

I guess it comes from the Puritan idea of the evils of fornication
and the wholesomeness of mother nature

Add church to the poll, please.

The Unitarian Universalist Church offers a great sex-ed program, which I took in 7th or 8th grade.

We also learned about it in health class in school, but it was a pathetic attempt teaching us anything...
